CoWorking Night

Nemil Shah, founder/CEO at Approxie, demos his app for some of our members in 2015.

In 2015, I met some friends from a local makerspace who I collaborated with to launch “Hack Night,” which I later rebranded as “CoWorking Night.” At the time, I had also recently launched a Code for America brigade (Code for Huntsville). Together, a group of software engineers, designers, and I started meeting once per week to hang out, work on projects, and build startups.

Two years and 100+ CoWorking Nights later, our community had grown to thousands of people, dozens of whom routinely came to CoWorking Night every Wednesday. Watch a video about CoWorking Night here.

8 years later, CoWorking Night remained the flagship product of my nonprofit incubator, Urban Engine.

Our first venue let us use great rooms like this.

Periodically we’d host large events with the Mayor of Huntsville, Tommy Battle, who’d join us to take questions from members about Huntsville’s resources for entrepreneurs.
